Alright Alright Alright.
Here we go, the first milestone of 2025 is done. Today I finished reading the first book for this year. The only time I can read is when my kids are in bed and my wife gives me a bit of spare time.
It's not much but enough to get the job done.
Maybe if you have read the first line, you already know which book I'm talking about. It's called "Greenlight" by Matthew McConaughey who is a well known actor, staring in movies like Interstellar, Mud, The Wolf of Wall Street, Dallas Buyers Club and The Gentlemen.
A huge career with a lot of winning awards just as a Golden Globe and an Oscar.
Been a huge fan of his work and he's probably the most charismatic person I witnessed.
So what is Greenlight about?
In fact it's none less than an autobiography. From the early days until the moment he reached all of his goals.
What does the title mean?
When you're on a street and there is a redlight you just stop, stop moving until it's a greenlight. That's the part when you start moving again.
McConaughey wants to say don't stop always keep moving forward. Not on the street obviously but in life generaly.
Whenever you feel like your way of life isn't going anywhere, just go forward in whatever direction you want.
What a journey he had and what an impressive actor he is.
Normally an actor gets a script an follows it like a robot.
McConaughey just goes into that character and defines him the way he thinks it's right. He goes off the script when he feels like it should go another way.
Cuts off his hair because he thinks the character should look like that and pisses the directors off.
But in the end they agreed with him.
Of course there are also other actors that would do this but rarely.
Most of the autobiographys by a celebrity or polticiab are written by a ghost writer but this one ain't.
You can simply realize it by reading the book.
It feels like hearing McConaughey speaking those words out loud. Like he's in your room and reading the book for you.
This book is great start for the beginning of the year.
Hopefully more good things will come.
